Summer Chess Camp 2020

This August the UK Chess Challenge is running a Summer Chess Camp for 3 weeks from Monday 10th August. All children welcome – we only ask that players know how to move the pieces.

Weekly tickets are on sale – players choose between a “competition ticket” (competitions take place from 1300-1500) or a “competition and training combo” which includes a training session in the morning 1000-1045. Players can attend as many or as few sessions during the week as they choose.

The training sessions are interactive video sessions with experienced coaches such as WFM Sarah Longson and following each session the children will receive further games and activities to keep them entertained and challenged. The afternoon competitions take place on lichess.org – players will be placed into “divisions” based on ability levels with prizes handed out at the end of the week.

    This Chess Summer Camp runs from Monday 24th August – Friday 28th August

    The competitions take place from 1315 to 1500 on lichess.org. From 1300-1315 there will be a brief video introduction and warmup.

    Players will be placed into “divisions” based on current ability with a leaderboard throughout the week and prizes handed out at the end. Prizes will be based on results as well as effort – with some random bonuses so that everyone has a chance!!

    This Chess Summer Camp runs from Monday 24th August – Friday 28th August

    Training takes place in the mornings from 1000 – 1045. These will be interactive video lessons hosted by experienced chess coaches such as WFM Sarah Longson. At the end of the session the children will be given some follow up games and exercises to try out.
