UKCC Online Competition Terms and Conditions
- INTRODUCTION
This Online Competition Terms and Conditions policy provides you with information about your rights regarding entering and participation in our ‘Online Competitions’ – including the UK Chess Challenge.
By registering for an Online Competition you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions
- CANCELLATION / WITHDRAWAL POLICY
We do not offer refunds where the customer wishes to cancel their booking or can no longer participate in the event. Please check dates and your availability carefully before booking.
- REFUND POLICY
If we cancel an Online Competition due to reasons within our reasonable control then you will be entitled to a full refund of your registration fee. We will not refund miscellaneous expenses.
- AMENDMENTS TO RUNNING SCHEDULE
On rare occasions it may be necessary to amend dates, round times, reduce or increase the number of rounds, change time limits or make some other changes to the rules. These will be at the discretion of the organiser. This does not materially alter the substance of the Event and therefore you will not be entitled to a refund.
- RIGHT TO REFUSE ENTRY
We reserve the right to expel or to refuse entry to any participant who has not pre-registered for the competition, are being threatening or abusive within the “chat” or who have been found to have cheated. No refund will be granted to an individual who has been expelled or refused entry on these grounds. Please see ‘Fair Play Policy’ for further information.
- FAIR PLAY POLICY
Entry to our Online Events are subject to you and your child agreeing to our Online Fair Play Policy.
- CHILD SAFEGUARDING
Parents or guardians are responsible for their children during the online competitions. Parents should use their own discretion when deciding which of the lichess features to use.
Please note that lichess is a chess playing website used by adults and children alike – ie it is not designed specifically for children unline chesskid.com for instance. Using standard preferences it is possible to message and chat with other members. However – there is a “kid mode” available and we explain how to enable this in our onboarding process.
The UKCC believes that it is always unacceptable for a child or young person to experience abuse of any kind and recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people, by a commitment to practice which protects them. Please see our Safeguarding Statement for more information https://www.delanceyukschoolschesschallenge.com/policies/

We may have live coverage of the competitions on our media channels. Coverage may include discussion of games, standings as well as providing troubleshooting information.
